This Was Making Christmas Day Extra Special For Me
People in different parts of the world are giving and receiving on Christmas day. Some of us are more fortunate than others and I do feel grateful that in my country, I can celebrate with my beautiful children and family.
Giving and receiving was certainly something I was very aware of on Christmas day in 2002, making Christmas day extra special for me. You see, I gave birth to my first baby on Christmas day that year. So, I was “giving” birth and “receiving” a baby into this world. It was profound and I cried, in fact, I cried after each of my babies were born and handed to me. It is something I will never forget as I felt so blessed.
My first born was a girl and she received a baby’s first Christmas bootie ornament for her Birthday and loves getting it out of our Christmas ornament storage box and hanging it on our Christmas tree every year.
I wasn’t expecting my daughter to arrive on Christmas day as she was not due until the end of December. I remember sitting in a shopping centre on Christmas eve getting some last minute gifts when I had apparently started the very first stage of labor.
I must have looked stressed and in pain as a man came up to me while I was sitting waiting for my husband, and he asked me if I was ok. Nice to think people you don’t know take the time to stop and offer help. I know I have done this many times in my life.
Well, as they say, the baby is the one who decides when they want to arrive and my daughter had decided on Christmas day.
The good thing about the baby deciding is that, if she complains about being born on Christmas day I can always tell her she cannot blame me as she decided to arrive then. haha. I cannot say she has ever complained about it and in fact, she thinks it makes her even more special.
So, yes, I had a Christmas angel on Christmas day; a beautiful gentle soul. Then 4 years later I had another December baby. I had tried hard to avoid December but it was not to be. My last son arrived on 21st December so we have 2 Birthdays in one week.
My middle child had decided that since his sister had planned so well to arrive on Christmas day that he better decide on a date but one that was well away from December. So, he was born as an end of financial year baby and arrived on 1st July.
I am sure you have your own account of a Christmas that was special to you. This was my little one and I hope you enjoyed reading it.
